Getting ready
Choosing Where to Get Ready: Apartment, House or Hotel
You'll probably book the getting-ready place months before you think about makeup. A few minutes with the listing photos now can save the morning later.

Few couples who marry in Slovenia get ready at the venue itself. Most rent an apartment, a house or hotel rooms nearby for the night before and the morning of the wedding, and the artist comes there. That works beautifully – as long as the place has what hair, makeup and the photographer need.
The checklist
| Check | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| A large window with soft daylight | Makeup done facing daylight looks natural in photos. North- or east-facing windows are softest in the morning; a sheer curtain tames direct sun. |
| A table next to that window | About dining-table size, for the kit, with room for a tall chair facing the light. |
| Space for everyone | Bride, bridal party, sometimes the groom, plus photographer and videographer. |
| A separate room to dress | And a second room if the groom gets ready there and you want a first look. |
| Power sockets near the chair | Hair tools need them close by. |
| Air conditioning in summer | A hot room makes everyone sweat before the day starts; makeup sets better on cool skin. |
| Parking and easy access | The artist arrives early with a lot of equipment; no long walks or steep stairs is ideal. |
| Early check-in or late check-out | Confirm with the host that the room is yours for the whole morning. |
| 10–20 minutes from the ceremony | Then still add an hour of buffer. |

Light comes first
If you check only one thing, check the window. Daylight shows skin the way the camera will see it, so a look done by a window never turns out heavier in photos than it looked in the mirror. A kitchen counter at the back of the room, however large, is the wrong place. When the light is poor, Izidora brings professional lights, so the makeup itself is never compromised – but window light still gives the most natural pictures.
Apartment, house or hotel?
- Apartment: the most common choice at Lake Bled and in Ljubljana. Look for one open living room with a big window, plus a bedroom for dressing.
- House: good for a large bridal party or when both partners get ready under one roof; it's easier to set up two stations.
- Hotel: practical if you're staying there anyway. Ask for a room with a large window, and check that the artist can park and bring equipment up.
Think about the photos too
Your photographer will look for a clean wall, a window or a staircase for portraits of you and the dress. A bright, uncluttered room gives you beautiful pictures before you've even left. Tidy the space the night before and keep one corner free of bags and suitcases.

Questions brides ask
Will the makeup artist come to my Airbnb or hotel?
Yes. Izidora comes to the apartment, house or hotel where you get ready, anywhere in Slovenia, with travel added by distance.
What if the apartment is dark?
Izidora brings professional lights, so the makeup is always done in good light. A big window is still worth looking for, because daylight gives the most natural photos.
How much space does a makeup station need?
A table by a window and room for a tall chair. For a bigger bridal party, a second station by another window keeps the schedule relaxed.
